I was told to write my first blog on “Why the World Race?” and every time I sat down to write it, the Lord placed something else on my heart to write about. But, here it is! The others are soon to come, so I hope you will stay in touch!

Why the world race you may ask?

Jesus took me out of my hometown to utilize the people, places and words in College Station that would change my life. You think your first semester of college is about school or making new friends? Yeah I thought so too, and then God was like “What do you mean?? I brought you here to show you what you were made for.” (haha)  But in all seriousness, school is going great, but my walk with my Savior and Friend is what is filling me up everyday. God has blessed me with amazing friends and influences all around me that have shown me what a true passion and love for the Lord is and does.

I went into college thinking I knew who I was going to be, what I wanted to do, and how God was going to fit into my plan – funny right? – trying to fit God into MY plans or into anything. Thankfully, Jesus immediately became the sole author of this new chapter in my life (and the rest of this book.) God has shown me His abundant power and reign over this earth, although it may not look or feel like it, HE IS IN CONTROL. He took me to this deep and loving place in His heart and allowed me to sit and taste his sweet tenderness. It is a joy to be His child. Over my first semester at college, He changed me, awakened me to His mission and loved me, truly and deeply loved me. This changes a person, being intimate with the Lord is life changing.

God placed three people on my heart to talk to during this time of leaving an old life and walking in a new, free, life of light with Him. One shared with me how to be intimate with the Lord, one ignited a fire in my soul for His Kingdom, and the other encouraged and supported me in my step of faith and obedience that is the World Race Gap year. God is a pursuing Father and when you seek, you will be found.

My first semester as a college student was challenging, don’t get me wrong (there are too many stories for this blog), but looking back on it, all I see is that it was covered by Jesus’ grace and faithfulness. It brings tears to my eyes to try and fathom how good and steadfast He is. So, yeah, that’s why the World Race! Because He is worthy, and worthy enough to surrender to and praise all my days. And because I want this for others, because I know He wants it for others, for you. I could have never, NEVER imagined my life would look like what it does today. So don’t count yourself out of His story, because He has a plan for your life, a plan that will bring glory and honor to His name and one that He will remember and love on you for in Heaven.

Our God is alive and is working! He is not a God that is far, but one that is near and ready to be called upon. Praise for that and praise for what is to come!

My excitement and joy for this opportunity to be the hands and feet of our God!^
